Alessandra Ramos

Argentinian American oboist Alessandra Ramos is currently completing her Bachelor of Music degree at La Sierra University in Riverside, California, studying with Dr. Rong-Huey Liu.  

For the Fall 2019 and Winter 2020 quarters, she studied in Florence, Italy at the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini under Simone Bensi.  She continues to contribute to the many ensembles at La Sierra University, playing various positions in the La Sierra University Orchestra, Opera, and Wind Ensemble.  She spent the past two summers at the Hidden Valley Music Seminars, studying with Elaine Douvas, and at the Philadelphia International Music Festival studying with Philadelphia Orchestra solo English hornist Elizabeth Starr Masoudnia. In 2018 and 2019 she was selected to perform with the CBDNA Intercollegiate Band at the National and Western/Northwestern conferences in Tempe, Arizona, and Sonoma, California.  She has performed in several masterclasses under Elaine Douvas, Dr. Mallory Thompson, Herbert Blomstedt, among others.  As a member of the La Sierra University Wind Ensemble she toured New York in 2018, performing at Carnegie Hall.  Also as principal oboist of the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra for three consecutive years, in 2017 she toured Italy under Dr. Russell Steinberg.  Throughout high school, she also participated in the Certificate of Merit program sponsored by the Music Teachers’ Association of California.  She was also a member of the Verdugo Young Musicians Association for two years.  

Originally from Glendale, California, Alessandra began her musical studies on the piano at age seven. She began studying the oboe at age nine with Victoria Sabonjohn and has been pursuing this passion since then.
